Why does my QR filter fail to import or scan, or look different?

A QR filter code might fail to import or scan due to a number of reasons.

The filter was deleted.

- If you receive a message showing the filter has been deleted, it is very likely that this filter is more than 2 years old and the original creator has deleted the filter.

Starting 2020, Polarr will now preserve filter content even if the original creator has deleted the filter. This means once a filter code is distributed, they can always be scanned or imported in the future.

The filter was modified by original creator causing a different look.

- If the effect of the filter looks different from what you see on the before and after images, it is because the creator of the filter has modified its look after the filter was originally published.

Starting 2020, Polarr will now preserve the original filter content even if the original creator modified them later. This means once a filter code is distributed, the visual aesthetics of the filter will no longer changes.

The filter was modified by original creator causing a different name.

- If the name of the filter looks different from what you see on filter code images, it is because the creator of the filter modified its name after the filter was published.

Starting 2020, Polarr now will preserve the original name of the filter even if the original creator modified it later. This means once a filter code is distributed, the name of the filter no longer changes.

The filter was restricted to a different region.

- Depending on the creator's geolocation and local government policy reasons, some filters are restricted to use in one region only.

The filter was created in a newer version of Polarr.

- Polarr filters are backward compatible, but not forward compatible. This means the creator might have used a newer version of Polarr when creating the filter which is incompatible with your version of the app. You can update your app to the latest version to use the filter. However, you should be able to import filters made in all earlier version of Polarr.

Unstable internet.

- Importing and scanning a filter requires you to have an active internet connection.
